25Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. 26"In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27and do not give the devil a foothold. 28He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.
29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
- Ephesians 4
We are called to be humble before God. How do we know what humility truly is? As I was swimming I somehow started comparing my own achievements with others. CCAs, music, grades. I was reminded that as children of God we should not compare ourselves with others, like the path of thought that Singaporean culture has indirectly developed within us, but instead we should compare ourselves to who God sees when He looks at us. The perfect example of our Lord Jesus Christ. Likewise, how do we learn true humility? By observing Jesus' example.
12When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. 13Then Pilate asked him, "Don't you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?" 14But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor.
- Matthew 27
The humble quietly submit themselves to God, to His word and to His rod, who follow His directions, and comply with His designs, and who are gentle towards all men.
Have I been gentle with others?
